Until now, stamped parts with a specific geometry have been produced for a long-standing customer. In addition to this geometry, the customer now wanted to realise another shape that will soon go into series production.
As with the previous geometry, the metal part is first produced in a progressive die and then milled. The milling realises two things:
This procedure means that no tool change is necessary, even with the new geometry, in order to be able to produce quickly and cost-effectively as usual. The site in Großbottwar worked together with Walter Tools to develop and manufacture the customised indexable insert for the milling process.
Steel initially produced 50 pieces for the trials and around 500 pieces in a second stage. Following minor adjustments, the corresponding programme for the double-spindle machine is currently being written so that series production of the second part can begin shortly.
