Engineering and production of an interchangeable insert for small series

The project involved supplementing an existing tool for a stamped and formed part that has been produced at the Großbottwar site for many years. The background to this was the decision not to procure a new tool for a small series with an annual requirement of around 5,000 parts and a similar geometry for cost reasons. Thanks to our engineering and design team as well as our toolmakers, we were able to implement the replacement completely in-house and in a short space of time, enabling us to start series production promptly.

We are increasingly involved in projects for automotive and non-automotive customers in which similar parts are designed and manufactured with one tool and one or more interchangeable inserts right from the start. This not only offers the advantage of lower investment costs, but also enables faster retooling between different products.
